Verbier Ski Property & Resort Guide

  • Favoured by Europe's wealthy, Verbier's ski area and town is not for the faint-hearted
  • An easy 1.5 motorway drive from Geneva; or a similar distance by train
  • 400kms of varied pistes, testing itinerary routes and endless off-piste
  • Famous for a ski hard, party hard mentality
  • A summer playground for walking, biking, climbing and golf

Verbier is well known for its adventurous skiing, steep and deep off piste, playful après ski and lively nightlife. However scratch the surface of this alpine playground and Verbier has more to offer: winter walking, snow shoeing, ice climbing and tobogganing or time spent relaxing in one of the resort's spas. Exclusive nightspots offer chic surroundings in which to wind down - or up - after a hard day on the mountain. Situated on a sunny plateau Verbier offers stunning views across to the Grand Combin and Mont Blanc in France. Investment in the lift system have alleviated its past problems of long queues and ensure that if you can get up early after partying the previous night away, then you can catch first gondola up the hill for a full day on the slopes.

A speedy drive along Lake Geneva's northern edge and along the Rhone valley before the bends up to the resort.

Switzerland’s Four Valleys area, offers 400km of pisted runs and Europe’s most easily accessible and extensive off piste free-riding. Whilst it is more spread out than France’s better known “Three Valleys”, a full day’s skiing can take you to the far reaches without venturing on the same piste twice.

The mountains play host to any number of sports as well as an annual music festival. After a day wandering hills there is always the option of relaxing over a gourmet dinner in one of Verbier’s excellent restaurants.

Property Market

Despite ongoing restrictions for foreign buyers, Verbier continues to offer a wide variety of superb property. The chalets on the sunny Sonalon side benefit from excellent views over the village and valley while property within walking distance of the main Medran ski lift is highly sought-after for its prime location. The quality of property development within the resort has established Verbier as the first choice for those looking for an exclusive mountain retreat. Growing interest in the summer mountain activities offered by the resort, such as climbing, hiking, golf and mountain biking, is also driving demand for holiday homes.
