Andermatt is one of Switzerland’s oldest and most picturesque ski villages. Situated at the heart
of the Swiss Alps this snowsure resort appeals to off-piste fans and a growing market of intermediate skiers. The original heart of the village is small and charming surrounded by steep, deep powder filled Swiss Alps. Long gone are the days when the village was home to the Swiss Army carrying out its winter training; Andermatt is on its way to becoming one of the ski destinations of the 21st Century.

Access

There are seven airports within a 2hr drive making it an easy weekend get-away. It is also a stop on the Glacier Express, one of the world's epic train journeys.

Winter

With the village itself sitting at a lofty 1,444m, snow-sure conditions are guaranteed with the lifts usually opening mid-November. With over 120km of pistes reached by 24 lifts as well as endless off-piste, it is a fantastic resort for all levels of skier. Winter walkers and cross-country skiers are also blessed with excellent and numerous trails.

Summer

A popular summer destination, Andermatt offers hiking, biking, golf, fishing, tennis and paragliding. The Furka Steam Train, passing through stunning alpine scenery is another popular summer experience.

Property Market

Andermatt's exemption to the Swiss regulations governing non-resident property purchase and construction in tourist areas makes investment here interesting. Without the restrictions on property size, buyers can choose between hotel residences and penthouses, stand-alone apartments and chalets as large as 1,000m2. Prices reflect the quality of the construction - and the unique opportunity - but Andermatt still looks affordable compared to ski resorts such as St Moritz, Gstaad and Verbier.
