Located right on the border of France and Switzerland, Chatel is a beautiful little resort which still functions as a traditional farming village – with over 30 working farms still in operation. This life outside of tourism ensures that Chatel has managed to retain its quaint French charm.
An easy 1.5hr drive from Geneva airport.
Whilst other resorts may suffer from lack of snow, Chatel’s proximity to Lac Leman mean that there is usually plenty of snow to be found. There are two separate sectors of slopes, one linked to Avoriaz, and the other linked to two resorts in Switzerland – Morgins and Torgon. A great intermediates resort, there is also plenty of challenging off-piste to be found for the expert powder hound.
Extensive hiking and downhill mountain biking are the big draw cards of Chatel in the summer. 90km of purpose built walking tracks ranging from 1km strolls to day-long rambles wind their way through the mountains, ensuring all ages and fitness levels are catered for. Sport climbing, via ferrata’s and mountaineering routes for the more adventurous are also popular summer activities.
