In Lech, it is not unusual to find yourself skiing alongside royalty: the luxury accommodation, gourmet restaurants and snow surety, creates a superb winter wonderland favoured by the rich and famous. Named after the river running through the town, Lech lays claim to one of the world’s first ski clubs and one of the forefathers of ski tourism. Though now a sophisticated ski resort, at heart Lech is a traditional village retaining plenty of charm amongst the historical chalets and farm buildings.
Lech is ideally placed for airports: choose between Innsbruck, Friedrichshafen and Zurich and there are also frequent and fast Inter City rail connections.
The biggest draw to Lech is probably that it is one of the most snow sure resorts in Europe. Part of the Arlberg Ski area, connecting it to St Anton, there are 440km of pisted runs and extensive off-piste.
Summer in Lech offers events such as the Lech Triathlon, The Arlberg Classic Car Rally, the annual Lech Village festival as well as the usual mountain sports.
Second home purchase in Lech (as in man other popular tourist destinations in the Vorarlberg) is controlled. Opportunities tend to arise in hotel room investments and new-build apartments or chalets.
